Kitchee fall short against BC Ranger as they suffered 2-3 defeat in the JC Sapling Cup on Saturday (October 14) at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground.

Kitchee were running short of players in this cup match with 10 First Team players absent due to the international window and the injury issue. 4 academy players, including Yeung Cheuk Kwan, Lau Yu Ho, Pang Hing Hei, and Yu Ching Wai, were promoted to the First Team squad with a total of 18 players ahead of the game.

Cheng Chin Lung and Charlie Scott were operated at new positions in a way to solve Kitchee’s defensive line crisis, but it wasn’t good enough to prevent Kitchee from converting just 12 minutes into the first half. Mikael equalized the scoring for Kitchee from a corner attempt before they headed to the dressing room.

A penalty kick in the 57th minute saw Kitchee behind again in the second half, but it was Mikael again when he made a double off a cross from Jakob Jantscher to put the game alive in the 74th minute. However, a free-kick 5 minutes later ensured it was the winning goal for BC Ranger to hand Kitchee, who had 2 U18 players made their first team debut, a defeat.
