Jakob Jantscher’s second half goal wasn’t good enough as Kitchee suffered a 1-2 defeat against 10-men Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the AFC Champions League on Wednesday at Hong Kong Stadium.

Kitchee had to turn things around this time to make it to the knockout stage, but Wednesday’s game went to the wrong direction as it took just 2 minutes for the visitors to take the early lead. Kitchee tried to recover from conceding the opener but only saw the opponent extended the lead by netting the second goal in the 38th minute.

Jeonbuk’s defender Jeong Tae-Wook was shown a straight red card moments before the break gave the hosts hope to make a dramatic comeback in the second half. Striker Jakob Jantscher began the comeback in the 69th minute when Mikael chest passed in the box for the Austrian to pull one back, the crowd erupted. However, efforts from Ruslan Mingazov and Charlie Scott couldn’t manage to level the scoring in this entertaining match.
