Kitchee beat Lee Man 5-4 in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in regulation on New Year’s Day to win the inaugural HKPLC Cup at Mong Kok Stadium.

Two quick goals from Lee Man saw Kitchee losing just 7 minutes into the first half, but it only took Kitchee 5 minutes to level the scoring. Mikael pulled one back in the 9th minute when Igor Satori’s corner came in perfect timing that found his Brazilian target to start the comeback. Ruslan Mingazov scored the equalizer 5 minutes later after he chested the ball to the left that allowed him to put the ball into the net with his left foot.

Classic games between two rivals in football history always needed to be separated with penalties, and the same happened to both sides. All 5 Kitchee players were successfully converted after Lee Man missed the first round to clinch the first ever HKPLC Cup Champions.
