Striker Sherzod Temirov scored a stunning volley in the second half as holders Kitchee kicked off their FA Cup defense with a 2-0 win over HKFC at Mong Kok Stadium on Saturday (March 9).
Cheng Chin Lung and Poon Pui Hin returned to the starting lineup and the opening goal was beautifully crafted by the duo from a corner to tee up Roberto, who produced the stunning header that took the lead for his side just 5 minutes into the first half. The opening goal didn’t slow down Kitchee to extend the scoresheet, but Charlie Scott’s attempts failed to do so before the half time whistle.
The second 45 also belonged to Kitchee but their strikes couldn’t find the back of the net. Uzbekistan international Sherzod Temirov came off the bench to bolster the lethal performance and the striker, who never disappoints when his scoring service is needed, scored a wonderful cushioned-volley in the 82nd minute to hand his side a 2-0 win to cruise into the next round, facing Eastern in the FA Cup semi-final.
