Kim Dongjin to leave Kitchee to join South Korea national team

Kim Dongjin is to leave Kitchee to become part of South Korea men’s national football team’s coaching staff.

Kim played for Kitchee for 21 times between 2016 and 2019. After announcing his retirement from playing, the former South Korean international has taken a coaching role at Kitchee and was appointed as their Interim Head Coach for the second time in October 2023, guiding the team to win the Senior Shield during his time in charge of Kitchee.

“It’s been an absolute honor to be part of the Kitchee family. However, the time has come for me to turn a new page in my career. The so past 8 years have been incredible, and my heart will always be there. I’d also like to thank everyone at the club and all the fans from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done for making me a better person, I wish Kitchee and everyone of you all the best for the future.” Kim took the opportunity to deliver a departing message.
