A Visit in the Community: Kitchee Woman x Voluntee

Kitchee Volunteer Team visited the nearby Shek Mun Estate with members of the Women team, including the Captain Vicky Chung and new-arrival Cheung Wai Ki. 20 families and elderly living alone were visited during the weekend.
The family visited was an elderly lady and her granddaughter who was mentally handicapped. A bit shy and aloof, she opened up to Vicky and asked Vicky to teach her football, while painting Vicky’s nails with her favourite polish to wish her good luck. During other visits, some elderly expressed their passion in football and encouraged Eden, the visiting U7 player from the Academy, to work hard in his training.
This wasn’t Vicky’s first time working with the Volunteer Team, but she was happy for the chance to learn more about Shek Mun. “The families we visited were facing various challenges, but they were so optimistic and strong. They reminded me of my grandparents, while talking and spending time with the girl with special education need was an enjoyable and encouraging time.”
Speaking of her first volunteering service with Kitchee, Wai Ki was excited to learn about the link between the Club and the community. “I started to come to Shek Mun more often after joining Kitchee. I got to learn more about this community through this exercise and make friends with Kitchee fans.” Vicky and Wai Ki mentored the Academy players after taking photos with the volunteers.
Volunteers Mrs. Poon and her daughter wished that they could spend more time in during the visits. “My daughter got to develop her communication skills. She has learnt to care about others and influence others. This was my first time working with the Women team and I enjoyed getting to know them. They were filled with passion and love! I will definitely support them in the future.”
Kitchee Charities worked with the Shatin Alliance Community Services Centre (Shek Mun) and the Blessing Spring Baptist Chapel to deliver gift packs to the needy in Shek Mun Estate and Shui Chuen O Estate. The gift packs include noodles, canned food, anti-epidemic supplies, as well as corn oil and alcoholic wipes provided by Kitchee Charities.
