After a largely turbulent first-half in the current premier league season, Kitchee will enter 2016 hoping to put things back in order. The side will kick-off the new year by facing Hong Kong Pegasus in the BOCG Life Hong Kong Premier League on Saturday afternoon. The match between the two formidable sides will take place in Mongkok Stadium and kick-off time will be at 5:30pm. At the time of writing, Kitchee finds itself occupying the third spot in the premier league table with three wins, two draws and one loss through six games, accumulating eleven points in the process. The side has a five-point gap with premier league leader Eastern and will need every single point from now onwards to sustain its push for the premier league title. During the holiday period, forward Paulo Carreiro had left the club for mainland football and with several players still out injured, it will require an all-out effort from Kitchee to overcome Hong Kong Pegasus on the weekend. Captain Lo Kwan-yee hopes Kitchee can get off to a good start in 2016 and reminds his teammates to enter the new year with a positive mindset. “We did not do too well in the first half of the season and entering 2016, we need to forget about everything that happened last year, face every new challenge with renewed optimism and tackle every game with courage,” Lo declared. Lo also expects a very tough game against Hong Kong Pegasus but feels confident about Kitchee’s chances nevertheless. “We only managed to defeat Hong Kong Pegasus 1:0 in the Senior Shield earlier, indicating that the opponent is certainly a quality side. A lot of the Pegasus players were involved in the Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup, meaning their general form should be quite good. However, Kitchee is full of quality and experienced players and if we play up to our own potential, I certainly fancy our chances of coming out on top,” the Kitchee veteran points out.
