League Cup undefeated side Kitchee will seek to advance from Group A of the competition by overcoming Dreams Metro Gallery on Sunday afternoon. Kitchee’s first match in the Year of the Monkey will take place in Sham Shui Po Sports Ground and kick-off time will be 2:30pm. Despite going through a largely Jekyll and Hyde domestic season, Kitchee has been in scotching form in the League Cup group stage, chalking up three wins from three group matches, netting ten goals while only conceding twice. While it may seem like a walk-in-the-park fixture for Kitchee this weekend, the view cannot be further from the truth, as Dreams Metro Gallery has certainly been Kitchee’s bogey side this season, having defeated the blues once while holding the side to a draw on the other occasion. Kitchee will not be taking Dreams Metro Gallery lightly and revenge is certainly on the blues’ mind. Kitchee full-back Lo Kwan-yee left the Lunar New Year Cup midway after getting injured and remains questionable for the weekend tilt. However, that did not stop the Kitchee captain from declaring his team’s intention for this weekend. “We do not want to go winless against Dreams Metro Gallery on three successive occasions and we need to come out and win this game. It does not matter that we have already locked up a spot for the semi-final, as we need to win this game regardless,” confirmed the Kitchee leader. “We have not been very good this season and it shows that no side can continuously win games season-after-season. With all the changes that we have gone through recently, we need to come up with the necessary improvements.” Midfielder Lam Ka-wai also spoke about the urgency of collecting a win over Dreams Metro Gallery on Sunday afternoon. “As we all know, winning cures a lot of problems and we want to establish momentum and start picking up some wins,” Lam stated. “Back in our trophy-winning days, we were always good against lower-rank sides and we just need to find the necessary consistency to come out on top and defeat the opponent.”
