Coming off a nearly two week break from both domestic and regional matches, Kitchee will head back to home field Mongkok Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a BOCG Life Hong Kong Premier League tilt against Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin. Kick-off time for the match will be 5:30pm. Kitchee currently sits on the second-place in the premier league standing and trails table-topping Eastern by four points. With the premier league fixtures entering the final stretch of the current season, Kitchee’s aim in the premier league program remains crystal clear – claim maximum points available from all remaining matches, hope for a slip up from Eastern and overtake its arch-rival in the league standing. Previously injured Kitchee players such as Fernando Recio and Jorge Tarres are all back in training with the squad and their return should be a welcoming boost for the blue side. Attacking mainstay Lam Ka-wai, who travelled with the Hong Kong representative team to Qatar for international duty recently, maintained he and his teammates should benefit greatly from the break in the schedule, as the blue side should be quite fresh for the stretch-run. “Kitchee’s Hong Kong international players are all experienced veterans, know how to prioritize their rest in order to be in tip-top form for the premier league stretch-run,” Lam noted. “Our previously injured players are now healthy once again, which should help us tremendously in the remaining games.” Striker Sham Kwok-keung points out that target for the match against Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin this weekend cannot be any clearer, as nothing short of three points will satisfy the Kitchee troops. “With how the premier league is looking at the moment, there is really not much left to be said. Anything less than three points will not be much use to our title push and that is why everyone inside the dressing room shares the very same mindset, that is to go out this weekend and pick up all three points,” Sham declared.
