Gunning for a first-place finish in the group, Kitchee is set to clash heads with Singapore’s Balestier Khalsa on Tuesday evening’s AFC Cup 2016 Group F encounter. The match will take place on Kitchee’s home turf Mongkok Stadium and kick-off time will be 8:00pm. At the time of writing, Kitchee paces the rest of Group F with three wins, one draw, one loss and ten points from five games, leading third-place Balestier Khalsa by three points. A victory on Tuesday night will see the Blues advancing to the round of 16 as the Group F winner. However, Balestier Khalsa is no slouch at all, as the Singaporeans managed to shock Kitchee by handing the Blues a 1:0 loss in Singapore earlier. Now that the two sides are pitted against each other again at the group stage finale, Kitchee players will definitely be on their guards while trying to dish out revenge at home. Forward Jorge Tarres is pleased to see Kitchee back in the driver’s seat before the final group match. The Spaniard also hopes his side can take advantage of the situation and advance to the next round by winning the group. “In my eyes, Kitchee should be a stronger side than Balestier Khalsa. However, every team in the football world needs to prove itself on the pitch. Now that we are back at home facing Balestier Khalsa, we need to prove ourselves to the Kitchee supporters, make good use of the home field advantage and try to claim all three points,” said the veteran sharp-shooter. Midfielder Ngan Lok-fung indicates Tuesday’s match is a huge game for Kitchee and the Blues will be gunning for nothing but three points. “This match will affect the final standing of the group and for us, this is practically a must-win game. If we finish as the runner-up of the group, there is a good chance that we will face reigning AFC Cup champion Johor Darul Ta’zim away in the round of 16 and that is going to be an uphill battle,” Ngan explained. “We fell short against Balestier Khalsa earlier and whether you want to look at this game as a revenge or whatever, it really does not matter. The most important thing will be trying to get our hands on the three points come Tu
