The in-form Kitchee will make its first appearance in the Season Playoffs on Sunday evening by taking on Hong Kong Pegasus in Mongkok Stadium. The intriguing clash will kick-off at 8:00pm. In the midst of sparkling form, Kitchee has been riding on a four-game winning streak entering Sunday evening’s battle, with morale understandably sky high. Playoffs opponent Hong Kong Pegasus, the newly crowned FA Cup winner, will be competing in its third game in eight days, giving the well-rested Kitchee a slight advantage in terms of physical fitness. As long as the Blues stay on guard and play up to its normal standard, Kitchee should have a reasonably solid chance of advancing to the playoffs final. Forward Alessandro Ferriera, who netted a brace for Kitchee in his last outing against Hong Kong Pegasus, believes the much appreciated rest will do the Blues wonders and will hopefully see his side coming out on top on Sunday night. “Hong Kong Pegasus will need to play three games in eight days and that is going to take a huge toll on the players’ bodies. From that perspective, Kitchee should have an advantage over the opponent,” said the lanky striker. “We have played Hong Kong Pegasus several times this season and always come out on top, such a positive head-to-head record is bound to inject confidence into the players.” Despite Kitchee owning a 100% winning against Hong Kong Pegasus this season, full-back Daniel Cancela stresses the Blues can ill-afford to take the opponent lightly. “Hong Kong Pegasus is a speedy side and they have dangerous players throughout their lineup, such as Jaimes Mckee, Lo Kong-wai and Dhiego Martins, just to name a few. That is why we need to be very alert during the game, especially when we lose the ball up front,” explained the Kitchee defender. “In that situation, we need to make sure we stay caution and retreat as quickly as possible, minimizing Hong Kong Pegasus’ opportunity to swing long passes and counter-attack.”
