Building on the momentum from its season-opening victory, Kitchee will try to go one step further on Sunday afternoon by taking on KMB Yuen Long at home in Mongkok Stadium. The game will kick-off at 5:30pm. Snatching an all-important victory to kick-off the season has to be a great boost for the Kitchee camp. After the first week of the season, new recruits such as Lam Zhi Gin, Marcos Jimenez and Kim Bongjin have all settled further into the squad, making Kitchee all the more dangerous. On a special note, new striker Marcos Jimenez failed to find the back of the net in the opening week, hence the Spanish forward should be even more goal-hungry this time around, hoping to bag his first official goal in Kitchee colors. Jared Lum, who scored an impressive late goal in the opening game, is ready to go for it once again and signals his side will be aiming for maximum points this weekend. “It is great to start the season with a victory but the battle against KMB Yuen Long is just around the corner and hence we need to quickly find our focus again,” said Lum. “While KMB Yuen Long handed HKFC a heavy defeat in the opening week, we have already done our homework on the New Territories side and everyone is eager for match day to arrive.” Midfield lynchpin Matthew Lam believes KMB Yuen Long is a worthy opponent yet insists Kitchee definitely has what it takes to overcome the visitors this weekend. “KMB Yuen Long is always a difficult side to play against. They beat HKFC with ease in the opening week and their players will be on a high,” Lam assessed. “However, we did quite well against Kwoon Chung Southern ourselves and the victory was very encouraging as well. Therefore as long as we proceed with caution during the match, we should be able to handle what KMB Yuen Long has to offer.”
