Kitchee continued its unbeaten run in the premier league on Sunday afternoon by beating R&F away through a 2:0 victory, with midfielder Lam Zhi Gin scoring his first official goal in Blues colors. Kitchee travelled all the way to Siu Sai Wai Sports Ground to take on R&F but did not let the home team controlled the match tempo. Instead, Kitchee held a firm grip on the match throughout and generated several early goal-scoring chances. Late in the first half, the Blues finally opened the score when Lam Zhi Gin picked up the ball from a Fernando Pedreira pass, then shook off an opposing player before drilling a left-footer that found the back of the net. After the game resumed in the second half, Kitchee continued to stay aggressive and actually nullified the opposing attack in a rather comfortable manner. The Blues managed to double its lead when substitute Rufino Segovia came out from some R&F tight marking and belted a laser beam into the net, making it 2:0 for Kitchee. The score stood towards the final whistle, as the Blues emerged as worthy winner from the premier league encounter. Midfielder Lam Zhi Gin, who chalked up his first goal for Kitchee ever since signing for the club this summer, could not hide his delight after the game. “I am very happy to score my first goal for the Kitchee. I managed to hand out three assists in one game previously but it is great to score my first goal in Hong Kong. There has been a lot of expectations on me and at times, I do feel the pressure. However, I am grateful to the club for sticking with me and giving me lots of confidence,” said Lam. Lam went on to talk about his impressive partnership with team captain Lo Kwan-yee on the right side. “(Lo) Kwan-yee plays a similar style to me and sometimes, we do not even need to look at each other to know what kind of runs the other is going to make. He has been supporting me all along from the back, allowing me to do whatever I want to do on the pitch.” Lo Kwan-yee also took time after the final whistle and spoke about his ever-increasing chemistry with Lam on the pitch. “We are quite similar because we both have the experience of playing right-wing and right-back, therefore we always cover each other and work closely together on the pitch. When (Lam) Zhi Gin first started out with us, he seemed to lack a bit of confidence. Hence I would always find him with my first pass and try to build up his confidence. Over the past few games, we can all see how that confidence is starting to shine on the pitch,” Lo commented.
