After more than a week on the sidelines, Kitchee will jump back into the premier league battleground on Saturday afternoon by facing in-form side Wofoo Tai Po. The match will take place in Mongkok Stadium and kick-off time will be 5:30pm. Kitchee currently occupies the second spot in the premier league table, trailing league leaders Eastern Long Lions by six points while having a game on hand. Despite coming off a tough loss in the AFC Champions League Playoffs, Kitchee played a blinder in the game and hence overall confidence should not be seriously dented. It is expected that the Blues will enter Saturday’s clash against Wofoo Tai Po ready to fire on all cylinders, with nothing but three points will satisfy the hungry Kitchee troops. However, Wofoo Tai Po is no slouch at all. The New Territories side has chalked up four wins and one draw from five games in 2017, even managed to knock Kitchee out of the Sapling Cup earlier. The Kitchee squad should definitely take notice and be on guard comes match time. Midfield mainstay Krisztian Vadocz indicates the Blues will need to put their AFC Champions League disappointment behind them as quickly as possible, refocus on the premier league and get ready to challenge for the league-title. “It still hurts to be out of the AFC Champions League, as we were so close to reaching our target of making it to the group stage. Now that we are back in the premier league battleground, of course everyone within the squad understands how important this game against Wofoo Tai Po actually is. If we want to reach the AFC Champions League group stage next season, the best possible way will be winning the premier league and directly earn a spot in the group stage,” claimed the Hungarian. Versatile midfielder Jared Lum understands Wofoo Tai Po might very well be the in-form side of the premier league but insists that will not stop Kitchee from gunning for all three points on the weekend. “Wofoo Tai Po has been playing very well lately with several players hitting a purple patch of form but so are we. With our overall quality and the form that the Kitchee players are in, I think we should have enough to handle Wofoo Tai Po. We are six points behind Eastern Long Lions in the title-chase and even though we have a game in hand, I expect every remaining league game to be like a cup-final for us and we will be determined to win them all,” Lum stated.
