Kitchee continued its charge towards the top of the premier league table on Sunday afternoon by steamrolling past Lee Man Rangers in a 5:1 victory at home, courtesy to an impressive hat-trick from striker Alessandro Leonardo, as well as goals from Krisztian Vadocz and Fernando Pedreira. Kitchee wasted no time and drew first blood of the game in the opening minutes, as Krisztian Vadocz found himself on the receiving-end of a short corner-kick delivery and directed the ball home through a powerful header. However, Kitchee’s joy only lasted for roughly fifteen minutes, as Lee Man Rangers answered back through a well-taken Jorge Tarres goal. Kitchee gradually took over the match afterwards, with Fernando Pedreira and Alessandro Leonardo teaming up perfectly and netting three quick goals in a span of six minutes to establish a 4:1 lead for the Blues. The home side continued to enjoy the upper hand in the second-half and nearly pulled further away on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, Rufino Segovia and Matthew Lam both came up short with their chances. Late in the game, Alessandro Leonardo completed his hat-trick by finding the back of the net once again, sealing a convincing 5:1 victory for Kitchee in the process. Hungarian midfielder Krisztian Vadocz opened the score for Kitchee on the day and netted his first goal since joining the Blues. The elegant midfielder spoke about the satisfaction of snatching another victory for the Club. “We are able to come up with another victory today and our performance has been very satisfying. We are now in the second-spot in the premier league table and that gives us a very clear objective for the five remaining league games of the season. Hopefully, we can keep up with our form, win all of our remaining matches and snatch the premier league title while coming from behind,” said the classy midfielder. Brazilian Fernando Pedreira put on yet another lively display on the pitch in the victory against Lee Man Rangers. The Kitchee forward could not contain his joy in his post-game comments. “This is a very impressive victory and I think the Hong Kong Premier League needs more games such as this one. Our attack started the season slow and goals were hard to come by. But the team has been playing with lots of confidence lately and goals are starting to flow in quite regularly now. We need to keep on going with our fine form and continue to lay pressure towards the table-topping Eastern Long Lions,” Pedreira offered.
