Continuing its late-season charge towards the premier league title, Kitchee will travel all the way to Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground on Saturday afternoon for a heavy-weight clash against old nemesis South China. The premier league fixture will go underway at 5:30pm. Trailing premier league leaders Eastern Long Lions by a single point, Kitchee has been firing on all cylinders lately, winning six premier league games in a row while generating a staggering twenty-seven goals from the past six league matches and conceding only three times – a testament to the Blues’ sparkling and steady form entering late-season. From a head-to-head standpoint, Kitchee and South China have only met once this season, as the two sides fought feverishly in a league fixture before shaking hands on a 1:1 draw. While Kitchee will need to travel all the way to Tseung Kwan O for the weekend encounter, the Blues will likely still go out and play an aggressive game, as the side will hope to maintain its charge towards the premier league summit by collecting maximum points. Defensive mainstay Dani Cancela stresses that while South China might be somewhat inconsistent this season, a Kitchee-South China clash always mounts to a highly competitive game and that is what should be expected this weekend as well. “We only trail Eastern Long Lions by a point and therefore our game against South China will have great importance to our fight for the premier league title. Kitchee and South China met earlier in the season and both sides had to settle for a draw, showing how close the two sides are. While South China might have Bojan Malisic potentially missing the game due to suspension, the once-again in-form Nikola Komazec and Awal Mahama will be players that we need to keep an eye on,” the Kitchee full-back said. Alessandro Leonadro, who has found the back of the net twelve times from the past six league games, indicates confidence inside the Kitchee camp is sky-high at the moment and everyone is ready for the away battle against South China this weekend. "We have been riding on a great winning streak these days, boosting the players’ confidence to no end. We know South China is a difficult team to play against but we are all very determined to come up with the premier league title, therefore everyone is very focused on the training ground and during the games. We are definitely entering this game with three points in mind,” stated the Kitchee striker.
