In-form Kitchee is set to face Kwoon Chung Southern on Saturday afternoon for a crunching collision in the FA Cup semi-final. The captivating battle will take place in Mongkok Stadium and kick-off time for the match will be 3:00pm. Kitchee and Kwoon Chung Southern have already met up twice this season. The Blues came up on top in the season opener at home by 3:1 while dropping the reverse fixture 0:1 away from home. From the even head-to-head record this season, there does not seem to be much separating the two sides and an exhilarating battle on the pitch can be expected come match time on Saturday, especially with a coveted FA Cup final spot at stake. Thankfully, Kitchee players have largely been in stellar form entering the final stretch of the season, with the likes of Alessandro Leonardo, Jared Lum and Helio Goncalves all doing very well. With the Kitchee trio and the rest of the squad all hitting peak form late in the season, the Blues will be expected to pour nonstop pressure towards the Kwoon Chung Southern defense on Saturday afternoon. Despite acknowledging Kitchee is currently enjoying a strong run domestically, midfielder Huang Yang expects a hotly-contested 50-50 affair against Kwoon Chung Southern. “Over the past few seasons, every time when Kwoon Chung Southern plays against Kitchee, it has always been a very, very close game. I expect more or less the same this time around. Thankfully, our form and confidence are both going strong these days. Hopefully, we can keep up with the good run, beat the opponent and advance to the semi-final,” Huang claimed. Rugged defender Helio Goncalves, who has scored twice in the past three games, believes Kwoon Chung Southern has largely proven itself as a very competitive side this season, thus Kitchee will be wised to be on guard. “Kwoon Chung Southern is a team that is very hard to beat. They really gave us a tough time on both occasions when we met up this season, even defeating us once. That tells you all you need to know about their strength. Therefore we must stay discipline and mark tightly when it comes to set-pieces,” offered Goncalves. “People might expect us to have our eyes on next weekend’s epic premier league showdown battle against Eastern Long Lions but the game this weekend is an FA Cup semi-final. I can assure you we are not going to get our foot off the pedal on the occasion.”
