Armed with great ambitions, Kitchee will kick-off 2018 by taking on Kwoon Chung Southern in Mongkok Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The fiery premier league affair will go underway at 5:30pm and Blues supporters are called upon to show up in droves to lend their support to the Kitchee troops. Entering 2018, Kitchee has worked diligently in order to strengthen the side. Besides bringing in former Uruguay international Diego Forlan, the Blues have also recalled several players from their loan spells, including Jorge Tarres, Li Ngai-hoi and Cheng Chin-lung. The above-mentioned additions will greatly benefit Kitchee in domestic competitions and the AFC Champions League by boosting the team’s overall strength, as well as providing even more options for the coaching staff. While facing Kwoon Chung Southern this weekend is never an easy task, Kitchee players will enter the game with steely determination, aiming to get the Blues off to a fast start in 2018. Tenacious midfielder Huang Yang indicates Kitchee’s intentions for the weekend premier league fixture remains crystal clear, as the Blues will push forward for an opening victory to start off the new year. “We fell short in the Senior Shield semi-final late last year and ended 2017 with a defeat, therefore we are extra motivated to get off to a good start in 2018, hoping to get Kitchee back on winning track,” Huang states. “As a matter of fact, the return of Krisztian Vadocz will be a huge boost to Kitchee, which should lift our winning chances.” Veteran forward Jorge Tarres, who has been recalled from his recent loan spell, is delighted to return to the Kitchee family. “I am extremely happy to be able to come back to Kitchee and look forward to representing the Blues in domestic games, as well as the AFC Champions League,” offered the Kitchee talisman. “The arrival of Diego Forlan is also very exciting, as I cannot wait to team up with the Uruguay icon and bring even more glory to Kitchee. On a personal note, I have been back training with Kitchee for a few days now. My form is fine and I am ready to play. However, whether I will see any game-time or not remains a coach’s decision.”
