Entering the final stretch of the season in red-hot form, Kitchee is set to face Tianjin Quanjian on Wednesday evening for a thrilling AFC Champions League 2018 Group E clash. The exciting battle will take place in Mongkok Stadium and kickoff time will be 8:00pm. Kitchee currently occupies the basement of Group E with one win, three losses and three points from four games. Despite making its debut in the AFC Champions League group stage and starting the tournament with three straight losses, Kitchee surprised many by edging J-League side Kashiwa Reysol earlier, hugely boosting team morale. With Tianjin Quanjian now standing on the opposite end, it remains to be seen whether Kitchee can fend off charges from Alexandre Pato, Axel Witsel and Anthony Modeste, securing a sought-after revenge against Tianjin Quanjian, a side that humbled Kitchee through a 3:0 score line earlier in the group stage. Midfielder Lam Ka-wai, who recently made his 250th appearance for Kitchee, reveals the squad has momentum well on its side and will aim to beat the visiting Tianjin Quanjian by capitalizing on home field advantage. “Entering the final stretch of the season, the team is actually in great form and our confidence level is sky high,” Lam expressed ahead of the game. “We even managed to beat Kashiwa Reysol in the last AFC Champions League match day, injecting even more confidence into the squad. Hopefully, we can utilize our home field advantage and play a solid game in front of all the Kitchee supporters.” Midfielder Huang Yang, who has recently returned from injury, is looking forward to getting a positive result against Tianjin Quanjian. “Ever since we beat Kashiwa Reysol in the last AFC Champions League outing, everyone within the squad seems to have regained a jump in his steps. The victory also gave both players and supporters new hope in the tournament,” Huang explained. “In order to show once again that we have what it takes to rub shoulders with the other sides in the AFC Champions League, we will be out doing our best, hoping to nick points off Tianjin Quanjian.”
