On a quest to secure yet another memorable Treble, Kitchee will faceoff against Wofoo Tai Po on Saturday afternoon, this time with the FA Cup trophy on the line. The highly-charged FA Cup finale will take place in Hong Kong Stadium and kick-off time is set for 3pm. Having triumphed in the premier league and the Sapling Cup this season, Kitchee will compete against Wofoo Tai Po for the FA Cup trophy. If the Blues can go on and defeat the New Territories side, Kitchee will then accomplish an unprecedented feat in Hong Kong Premier League history – becoming the first premier league side to claim back-to-back Treble. Kitchee has faced Wofoo Tai Po on three occasions this season and has recorded a 100% winning record against the New Territories side. However, the two sides squared off last week in the Sapling Cup final and Kitchee left things late in the game before edging Wofoo Tai Po 2:1 and picking up the silverware. With the grueling battle fresh in the minds of the Kitchee players, Blues supporters can be assured that the Kitchee troops will be mentally ready for yet another tough battle against the Green Army. Tenacious midfielder Huang Yang reveals last week’s Sapling Cup victory against Wofoo Tai Po is bound to lift Kitchee players’ confidence ahead of the FA Cup finale. “It is my first time ever to face the very same opponent in two cup finals on back-to-back weekends. We defeated Wofoo Tai Po last week in the Sapling Cup final and I think it will give my teammates some sort of a psychological edge, allowing them to stay relaxed during the game and to perform up to their true potential,” Huang offered. “Looking back at our last game, we really took our chances in front of the opposing goal, executed the coaches’ tactical plan and managed our fitness level throughout the game. These are all the things that we must continue to do well this time around.” Samba schemer Fernando Pedreira, who netted a timely double in the Sapling Cup final and lifted Kitchee past Wofoo Tai Po, believes the Blues will be entering the FA Cup final on a high and should have a psychological advantage over the New Territories side. “We have played Wofoo Tai Po three times this season and won them all, maybe that will give us a mental edge. However, we expect Wofoo Tai Po to give it their best shot in the final, thus anything is possible,” insisted the highly-skilled winger. “Kitchee has won the premier league title and the FA Cup trophy, it is already one magnificent season regardless. This will allow our players to stay relaxed in the FA Cup final, while the currently trophy-less Wofoo Tai Po players might actually be more uptight on game day.”
