New Season Starts with Kitchee-Lee Man Clash in Sa

Kitchee will kick off the new season this Saturday (18 September) with the Sapling Cup where the team will face Lee Man at the Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground at 18:00.

The Sapling Cup this season will adapt a double round-robin system, which the title goes to the team with highest points after 14 rounds of matches. In any given time during the games, each team must field no less than 3 local players born on or after 1st January 2000. Eligible Kitchee players include Y Yu, Shinichi Chan, KY Chang, PH Poon, and Sohgo Ichikawa.

The teams recently played against each other in the Nike Presents: Kitchee 90th Anniversary Cup at the Mong Kok Stadium last Saturday. A debut goal from PH Poon and stoppage-time finish from Dejan saw Kitchee winning the Cup at 2-1. Looking back at the game, Helio admitted that the team’s performance slightly dropped in the second half, but they are ready and prepared after this week’s trainings and preparations. The defender also noted that Lee Man would be a worthy opponent, with performers such as SK Cheng who scored for Lee Man last week, as well as new additions like Diego and HT Yung.

The tickets are available to fans at the price of $80 (adult) and $30 (concession). The box office will open at 16:30. Attendants must comply with the pandemic measures implemented by HKFA.
