Kitchee faced Eastern at the Mong Kok Stadium on the day after Mid-autumn Festival. Both teams created several chances as Helio's header from a corner in the 13th minute being cleared by Eastern defenders. In the 17th minute, a Kitchee freekick from the edge of the box was taken by Shinichi Chan, which hit the post and fell to Dejan who calmly sent it to the net to give Kitchee the lead.

Kitchee continued attacking with a Roberto's cross on the right finding Shinichi Chan, who missed the target in the 30th minute. Poon Pui Hin's half volley in the 31st minute was parried by Liu Fu Yuen, who also safely collected Sean Tse's shot 4 minutes later. As first half came to an end, Roberto received his second yellow card and was sent off, but the 10-men Kitchee successfully protected the 1-0 lead into half time.

Eastern strived to find the equaliser as Sun Ming Him's effort was tipped above the crossbar by Paulo. However, Ng Ka Yeung's cross from the right found Naveed, whose header from back post scored for Eastern. Eastern's search for a second goal was repeatedly denied by Paulo, while Kitchee had a chance to retake the lead. Poon Pui Hin's pass in the box found Dejan, whose shot failed to find the target. The final score remained 1-1.
