Kitchee Advance to Senior Shield Quarter-final aft

5 goals in the second half at Round 1 of the Senior Shield on 12th September at Mong Kok Stadium helped Kitchee secure a win and a ticket to the Quarter-final.  

 

Jordon Brown made his debut for Kitchee, while Mikael Severo featured for the Club in domestic competitions for the first time. Mikael was close to getting on the scoresheet in 14th minute, but the goal was cancelled as Alex Akande was offside during the build-up.

Kitchee was searching for the opener as Poon Pui Hin’s cross attempts found Alex Akande twice, but the scoreline remained 0:0 as first half concluded.  

 

Kitchee’s efforts was finally converted into a goal in 51st minute as Charlie Scott’s long shot found the net. 1 minute later, Cleiton’s corner found Mikael, who headed it home and doubled the lead. Ruslan Mingazov, who made his first domestic appearance for the Club, came off the bench and found the net in 79th minute with a placed effort. He then picked up a cross from Clément Benhaddouche in 81st minute and volleyed it home to earn himself a brace.

 

Roberto Júnior scored from Cheng Chin Lung’s corner in 87th minute to finish the match 5:0 as Kitchee advanced to the quarter-final, where the team will face KC Southern on 22nd October.
