Oliver Gerbig scored twice as Kitchee defeated Chainat Hornbill F.C. 3-2 in the friendly match of their Thailand tour on Tuesday (August 1).
A number of changes were made in the starting lineup for this match. New signings Ogenyi Onazi and Yibulayimu Kuerban were handed their first start for Kitchee. Kitchee’s makeshift XI proved to be a match for the Thai League 2 club in the first half, dominating the proceedings before Oliver Gerbig handed Kitchee the lead in the 35th minute with a header. But Chainat Hornbill F.C. leveled the game in the closing minutes of the first half.
The host turned the game around after the break when they scored the second goal in the 62nd minute, but that didn’t prevent the visitor from making a comeback, starting with Oliver Gerbig when he received a pass from Cleiton and scored the equalizer 3 minutes after. Júnior proved to be the match hero as he scored the decisive goal 5 minutes after, with Cleition providing another remarkable assist to set up the Brazilian for the winner.
