Kitchee kicked off the new Premier League season in exemplary fashion to defeat Tai Po Football Club 3-0 at Mong Kok Stadium in Saturday (August 19) afternoon’s league opener.

3 summer signings Aleksandar Demchevski, Ogenyi Onazi, and Júnior had all made their competitive debuts for Kitchee in the curtain-raiser. Kitchee enjoyed most of the possession in the first half with captain Law Tsz Chun nearly opened his goalscoring account with his strike hit the post before Júnior scored his first Kitchee goal from distance in the 32nd minute to put Kitchee in the driving seat.

An emphatic all-round performance was then rounded off late in the second-half when Mikael converted from the penalty spot in the 71st minute to give Kitchee a commanding two-goal lead after Ruslan Mingazov was fouled in the box. The Hong Kong Footballer of the Year winner then registered an assist by setting up Júnior to smash home a third in the closing stages as Kitchee won their first game of the 2023/24 Premier League season 3-0.
