Kitchee’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages are on the line after beating Crownity North District 1-0 on Wednesday (February 21) at Mong Kok Stadium.

Kitchee would have been eliminated from qualifying had North District held on for a point after 90 minutes, so the lineup was on defensive purpose with a back four made up entirely of center backs, primarily Helio, Andy Russell, Sedin Ramic, and Kam Chi Kin Jason.

Youngster Tuscany Shek’s two breathtaking saves kept North District at bay as Kitchee went into half-time on level terms with North District. Kitchee continued to pressure offensively in the second half and earned a goal in the 63rd minute, which it eventually proved to be the winning goal. When Charlie Scott smashed a long range towards goal, the strike hit Junior and deflected into the net. The win means that Kitchee are still in the running, and 3 points against Lee Man on matchday 8 will see Kitchee advancing to the knockout stages.
