Kitchee announce 2024/25 season backroom team

Kitchee have officially confirmed the appointment of Edgar Cardoso as the Club’s new Head Coach. Cardoso, who just received his UEFA Pro License following the end of the 2023/24 season, will add Portuguese coach Stefano Sousa and Club legend Fernando Recio to his backroom staff ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Having joined Kitchee as Director of Elite Youth Football in 2023, Cardoso stepped in as Assistant Coach back in October, providing valuable insights to the First Team. He is decided to bring his fellow countryman Stefano, who spent last season at the Czech third level football league club SC Znojmo FK, alongside Kitchee legend and Footballer of the Year winner Fernando Recio.

Also, another new face expected to be added to Cardoso’s coaching staff is Wesley Wong, who worked as Academy teams and Women’s Team’s Fitness Coach, will be the First Team Strength and Conditioning Lead Coach. Wong, who holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education and health science and a master’s degree in strength and conditioning, is also a former Hong Kong, China Lacrosse Association Limited Strength and Conditioning Director.

In addition, Cardoso has brought in Kitchee Academy alumni and former captain of the Academy teams Aaron Sek, who holds a UEFA coaching license, to become Kitchee’s new First Team Technical Analyst. Sek will also be linked up with Guo Jianqiao, who moved into coaching at Kitchee Academy after calling time on his playing career in 2022, will stay on as First Team Goalkeeper Coach in the new campaign.
