The slumping Kitchee will try to halt its downward spiral on Saturday afternoon by facing Kwoon Chung Southern in a HKFA League Cup Group A fixture. The clash between the two Group A sides will take place in Mongkok Stadium and kick-off time will be at 2:30pm. Kitchee has done well in the League Cup so far with a 100% winning record from its first two matches, heading fellow Group A side Kwoon Chung Southern. However, Kitchee’s recent form has left a lot to be desired, with the side going winless and scoreless over its past two games, causing a lot of worries amongst its faithful. However, striker Jorge Tarres has been in great form to start the season, having netted five goals in all competitions so far. It remains to be seen whether the veteran talisman can continue his rich form in front of goals and drag his side back onto winning ways this weekend. Forward Paulo Carreiro admits Kitchee’s attack has gone stale over the past few games and the issue needs to be fixed this coming weekend. “We bagged a lot of goals last season and with a largely intact squad returning this campaign, our firepower should not have been an issue whatsoever. As long as we stay calm in front of the opposing goal, I am very certain that my teammates and I can show up with our scoring boots and find the back of the opposing net,” said the Kitchee goal-threat. “We have always prioritized the premier league as our main target for the season but maybe with all the various tournaments that we have been involved with, our focus have got lost in the shuffle. We will be returning to the very familiar Mongkok Stadium for this bout and that should do us all the wonders in the world. I certainly expect a better showing from us this time around,” added the ever-lively attacker.
