With a fast-start to the new premier league season, Kitchee will try to keep the momentum going on Friday evening by facing Hong Kong Football Club away. The match will take place in the Hong Kong Football Club Ground and will go underway at 8:00pm. Kitchee has kicked-off the premier league season with a 100% record, winning its first two games and currently toping the premier league table. This week’s opponent HKFC, on the contrary, finds itself at the foot of the table, after dropping its first two matches. While Kitchee might be the seemingly favourite for Friday’s encounter, it should be noted that HKFC will have home field advantage on this occasion. Hence Kitchee players will be well-warned to keep their focus throughout ninety minutes, searching for the right opportunity to breakdown the opponent’s defense while staying alert on any potential counter-attack by HKFC. Forward Marcos Jimenez maintains he and his teammates will not read too much on the two sides’ respective league standings ahead of Friday’s game. Instead, the Blues will channel all of its attention onto the match itself, hoping to collect maximum points from the encounter. “We are currently riding high in the premier league table and that is down to all the hard work that we have done in the early season. Therefore we need to work extra hard on all the games that are coming up, no matter what might be the gap in the standings,” the Spanish striker comments. “It was disappointing to lose in the Community Cup last week but the premier league title remains our main priority this season. We need to regain our focus as quickly as possible and take care of our game against HKFC on Friday.” Centre-back Pau Bosch, who made his Kitchee debut last week in the Community Cup and netted a debut goal, expects a tough game from HKFC on Friday but insists the Blues will be well-prepared. “Games like this one, with a league-leading side against a bottom-table team, is always dangerous,” Bosch warns. “People always think the so-called bigger teams can walk over the opponent and come up with a victory but that is far from the truth. Adding to the case is the fact that we will be playing on a narrow pitch and that is bound to make things more difficult for us. Having said all that, we will be mentally prepared for this game and be totally focused with our preparation.”
