Kitchee will put its premier league winning streak on the line on Sunday afternoon by hosting BC Glory Sky in Mongkok Stadium. The match will kick-off at 5:30pm and supporters are encouraged to show up in numbers and cheer for the Blues. The Blues have seemed to pick up from where they have left off before the recent international break, snatching a well-deserved 2:0 win over R&F last weekend. Midfielder Lam Zhi Gin recorded his first official goal in Kitchee colours during the victory and confidence should be booming for Kitchee’s marquee signing over the summer. Forward Alessandro Leonardo has been in sparkling form recently, finding the back of the net four times over Kitchee’s five previous matches. There is little doubt that the lanky striker should be the main driving force behind Kitchee’s attack on the weekend once again. Captain Lo Kwan-yee acknowledges Kitchee might be a stronger side than BC Glory Sky on paper but also insists the Blues will not be taking the opponent lightly. “In a game like this, we must stay totally focused and cannot afford to under-estimate the opponent. The quality of our overall attack in the previous games has been rather suspect, therefore we must utilize this game and try to improve on things,” said the Kitchee full-back. “We need to score goals and build up our confidence. At the same time, we also need to work on capitalizing our chances with a bit more regularity. Our opponents this season so far tend to stay back and defend throughout the match. Therefore it is important for us to find ways to breakdown the opponent and execute our game-plan on Sunday afternoon.” Midfielder Lam Zhi Gin, who opened his Kitchee scoring account last weekend, echoes his captain’s view and talks about the importance of converting scoring chances as a team. “It does not matter what league position BC Glory Sky might be in at this moment, as there are no easy games in the premier league whatsoever. The title-chase is really tight and there is a chance that things might come down to goal-difference at the end of the season. Therefore it is equally important for us to keep winning and scoring,” Lam declared.
