After securing its spot for the FA Cup semi-final last week, Kitchee will resume its premier league duty by taking on Hong Kong Pegasus once again on Monday afternoon. The premier league tussle will take place in Mongkok Stadium and kick-off time is 5:30pm. Kitchee is rounding into form at the perfect time of the season. Besides riding on a five-game premier league winning streak, the Blues also defeated Hong Kong Pegasus last week in the FA Cup to punch its ticket for the semi-final. While Kitchee and the youth-driven Hong Kong Pegasus will have to meet up for another great battle in relatively short time, it should also be noted that Kitchee mainstays such as Lo Kwan-yee, Fernando Pedreira and Wang Zhenpeng were all rested last week with an eye on Monday’s game. In addition, influential figures such as Alessandro Leonardo and Matthew Lam all played controlled minutes in the previous match against Hong Kong Pegasus, hence everyone in Kitchee colors should be in reasonable condition for the upcoming tilt against Hong Kong Pegasus. Midfield grinder Matthew Lam admits to finding himself doing a lot of scoreboard-watching lately but insists the Blues will need to take care of business by winning the league game in front. “I have to admit I have been following very closely on how Eastern Long Lions are doing these days. My good mate Jorge Tarres (Lee Man Rangers) played very well against them and nearly caused our biggest rival to drop all three points. Even though the two sides ended up shaking hands on a draw, I still think I owe Jordi a drink! (smile) About Monday’s game, we are doing quite well in the premier league these days, scoring regularly as well as playing steady defense. Let us keep rolling and try to come up with maximum points at home,” Lam stated. Despite overcoming Hong Kong Pegasus last week in the FA Cup, midfielder Jared Lum maintains Kitchee can ill-afford to take the opponent lightly and must be on guard for Monday’s premier league game. “Even though we might have beaten Hong Kong Pegasus three times already this season, football is very different from game-to-game, therefore we need to be meticulous in our preparation for Monday’s game, stay 100% focused as always, take care of every single detail in the game and try to score early,” offered the tenacious midfielder.
