With the Senior Shield and the Hong Kong Premier League crowns now safely located in the Club’s trophy cabinet, Kitchee is set to go for the incredible Treble on Sunday afternoon by taking on South China in the FA Cup final. The mega clash will take place in Mongkok Stadium and will go underway at 3:00pm. Kitchee has been in dominant form recently. Besides winning the Senior Shield in midseason, the Blues really turned it up a notch in the second half of the campaign, stringing an impressive ten-game winning streak in all domestic competitions, winning the premier league title and punching its ticket for the FA Cup final to face old nemesis South China. Based on head-to-head records this season, Kitchee and South China have actually met up twice this campaign, with Kitchee winning and drawing once. Now that the two sides are scheduled to faceoff once again in the FA Cup final, it remains to be seen whether the Blues can extend its ten-game winning streak and take home the prestigious FA Cup trophy for the first time since the 2014-2015 season. Captain Lo Kwan-yee admits players are bound to feel a certain level of fatigue approaching the end of a long season. However, everyone in Kitchee colors is determined to buckle down and to complete the Treble for the Club. “Everyone in the dressing room is eager to win the FA Cup, hoping to wrap up this season with a sweet victory, therefore even though we might be feeling slightly fatigued, nothing will stop us from going out for a victory,” Lo said. “South China has not done well defensively this season and therefore we must capitalize on every scoring chance in the game. Hopefully, we can score early and pull away from the scoreboard in the earliest manner.” Full-back Tong Kin-man acknowledges the Blues are currently on a roll and will be gunning for an FA Cup final victory this coming Sunday. “We are on quite a winning streak at the moment and even snatched the premier league title last weekend, proving that our form and confidence are both on a high. Nothing will stop us from going for a victory this weekend,” Tong stated. “The Kitchee supporters have been very loyal to the side and keep chanting and singing throughout all the games. I hope they will show up on the weekend, keep supporting Kitchee and put on a spectacular game-time atmosphere once again!”
