After the conclusion of the recent international break, Kitchee will head back to the premier league battleground by taking on Wofoo Tai Po at home on Saturday afternoon. The highly-charged affair between the two premier league frontrunners will take place in Mongkok Stadium and kick-off time will be 5:30pm. Despite having several players away on international duty, premier league’s third-place side Kitchee has been busy with its preparation for this weekend’s battle against Wofoo Tai Po. In fact, the Blues actually participated in a friendly match against premier league rival Lee Man last weekend and edged its opponent 4:3, while utilizing a largely young, inexperienced squad in the second-half. Scoring sensation Lucas Da Silva, who currently tops the premier league scoring chart, bagged a hat-trick in the friendly match and should once again become the focal point of Kitchee’s attack this weekend. South Korean rearguard Kim Bong Jin points out that Wofoo Tai Po owns a speedy counter-attack and the Blues defenders will need to be on guard right from the very first whistle. “Although I do not possess a very in-depth understanding on Wofoo Tai Po, from what I have gathered so far, they have made a lot of player-changes in the offseason and have largely improved the side – especially with their lethal wing-play. Let’s see if we can expose the space behind their defense and capitalize with a few goals along the way,” said the mobile rearguard. Defender Tong Kin-man believes Dhiego Martins and Wong Wai are the two main threats of Wofoo Tai Po and will need to be closely watched. “The Kitchee and Wofoo Tai Po game this weekend is a crunching battle between two sides that occupy frontrunning positions in the premier league table. We will head into this game just as we always do, which is focusing on how we play. At the same time, I understand the opponent will likely come up with a specially designed game-plan against us, so we will have to get ready for that as well,” offered the experienced Tong. “Dhiego Martins and Wong Wai are the major keys to Wofoo Tai Po’s counter-attacks and we must be prepared for them.”
