Inspired by a sublime individual piece of magic from star striker Diego Forlan, Kitchee went on to demolish BC Rangers 7:0 through a fine offensive display at home on Sunday afternoon’s premier league fixture. The victory hands Kitchee another welcoming three points in the league table and keeps the Blues on the driver’s seat in the title-chase. Despite enjoying home field advantage on the day, Kitchee was put under pressure by BC Rangers at the start of the game, as Lai Lok-yin’s drive was first pushed aside by Kitchee keeper Guo Jianqiao and then hit the post. Vaz Walter went for the rebound but fired his shot at the post as well. Kitchee regained its composure afterwards, started to take the game towards the visitors and finally busted the deadlock open on the 38th minute, when Diego Forlan unleashed an absolute screaming free-kick from thirty yards out that hit the top corner of the BC Rangers net, putting the Blues in front. Late in the first half, Lucas Da Silva scored not once but twice to make it 3:0 for Kitchee heading into the interval. After the game resumed in the second half, Kitchee continued the onslaught with another goal from Diego Forlan. Late in the game, Alexander Akande found himself on the receiving-end of a Cheng Chin-lung forward pass and poked the ball into the BC Rangers net. Kitchee was up by five goals at this point. Deep in stoppage time, Alexander Akande and Paulo Cerreiro were at it again and both hit the back of the net, completing Kitchee’s demolition job on BC Rangers. Uruguay striker Diego Forlan opened his Kitchee goal scoring account by netting a brace against BC Rangers. The Kitchee superstar spoke about his delight on gradually finding form on the pitch. “As a striker, you always want to score whenever you step on the pitch. Today is my mother’s birthday and I am grateful to be able to celebrate her birthday by scoring two goals,” offered Forlan. Youngster Cheng Chin-lung, who has recently rejoined Kitchee from a loan spell, is glad to help the Blues to secure a convincing victory in his first game back in Kitchee’s colors. “This is my first game for Kitchee this season and to be able to come out on top with a huge victory, it is simply a fabulous feeling,” Cheng admitted. “My role with Kitchee has slightly changed, as I am more involved in the buildup and slashing forward. However, chemistry remains a non-issue for myself, as my teammates are all quite easy to play with, especially Lucas Da Silva, who is a mountain of a man, allowing me to spot him with passes easily.”
