Having already sealed back-to-back premier league titles, Kitchee travelled to Aberdeen Sports Ground on Saturday afternoon to face old nemesis Kwoon Chung Southern. Youngster Cheng Chin-lung stole the limelight with a spectacular performance and powered Kitchee to a 4:1 victory over the host. With one more round of premier league fixtures left remaining this season, all Kitchee needs is a draw against Sun Bus Yuen Long to stay undefeated in its latest premier league triumph. Despite playing away from its usual confines, Kitchee still went on and took the lead midway in the first-half, as Jorge Tarres received the ball from Cheng Chin-lung, then motored into the box and finished things off with a clinical strike, putting the Blues in front. Kitchee was up by a goal heading into half-time. After the break, Kwoon Chung Southern tied the game with a spectacular bicycle-kick from Wellingsson De Souza. However, Kitchee quickly restored its lead, as Cheng Chin-lung’s strike from the edge of the box was charged down by an opposing player. Paulo Carreiro pulled the trigger on a volley and fired the ball home. Afterwards, Huang Yang’s cross found Cheng Chin-lung inside the box. The Kitchee youngster duly let rip and sent the ball into the back of the net, making it 3:1. Late in the game, Lam Zhi Gin made a dazzling run down the right wing before picking out Cheng Chin-lung in the goal-mouth. The latter took care of the rest and directed the ball home with ease, sealing Kitchee’s first victory over Kwoon Chung Southern this season. Kitchee youngster Cheng Chin-lung, who bagged a double and an assist on the day, remained extremely grounded after the game and scored himself only a passing grade on his outstanding performance. “My performance was OK today but I could have done better with many of the other details. An obviously example would be how I squandered a late scoring chance and wasted the effort from my teammate,” Cheng reflected with refreshing modesty. “At the same time, I do hope to improve on my fitness level, as I want to continue my own development and push for a starting spot in the Kitchee lineup.” Attacker Paulo Carreiro, who also managed to get himself on the scoresheet, was glad to see Kitchee turning out a great effort despite already clinching the premier league title. “While we might have already clinched the premier league title, my teammates still put on a great performance and played aggressively. I hope we can keep things going and march towards the goal of wrapping up the premier league fixtures unbeaten,” claimed the all-action Kitchee forward. “Regarding my young teammate Cheng Chin-lung, he simply put on an amazing performance today. He proved himself as a premier league player when he went out on loan in the first half of the season. Today, he simply showed everyone that he is capable of fighting for more playing time in Kitchee.”
